Ana Martin

Living in Washington since 1991, I did warm-water diving as often as possible while holding a full-time job at a major financial institution. I am currently retired from banking and working at a local athletic club as a water aerobics instructor. I still dive as often as possible. My photography shows my extensive travel to exotic dive sites such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Indonesia, Maldives, Micronesia, Egypt, Costa Rica, and all throughout the Caribbean. As well as my "land trips" since retirement.
I have a passion for the underwater world, for the relationship between what lurks underneath the ocean and its surrounding environment. I focus my photography on that inter-relationship. How do some animals react to the advances of their neighbors, their predators, their general surroundings? What behavior do they exhibit when you visit their world during the day? How different is this behavior at dawn, at dusk, at night? Not only do I take it all in visually, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, but I attempt to photograph it so I may share my art with others. Our oceans are so vast and so much happens there that it would take millions of photographs to show only a miniscule portion of what happens in this surreal environment.
